party connection

All in all the party has been together for about 2 days now. here is how you all hooked up. since I don't know your character names I'll use your real names to protect the innocent.

Joel has been in Wheloon for months. working his main job. He is well plugged in to the community and knows a little bit of information about the goings on of the town and fills you all in on the following about the town. a old lord by the name of Lord Sarp Redbeard governs Wheloon. Redbeard is a bit lax about the goings on of the City, he sort of has a don't ask don't tell policy and doesn't want to pry into the affairs of honest tax paying people. If there aren't complaints and they pay taxes then it let's them run their lives.

The city has a contingent of 150 purple dragons that enforce the laws and they are led by a Constal Maxaminus Tholl. he is a young captain but has what is best for Wheloon at heart. He butts heads with Lord Redbeard privately about his overly lax approach but publicly backs him 100%.

Recent events of the city are as follows.

a new temple of Mystra has been built at the north edge of town. There have been some concerns from some citizens, and the Purple Dragons investigate the place after some folk complained of weird lights and odd noises at night. Imagine that. Odd noises and lights at a temple devoted to the use of magic. of course the dragons didn't find anything wrong.

Joel doesnt' buy it though because a supposed priest of Mystra by the name of Tunaster Dranik showed up at his office at the Wyvern Watch Inn. with an unusual story. Which I'll give in person.

one other odd hapening is that Amnic Basult , a book seller, has gone missing, and the city watch hasn't found anything.

This leads to how everyone got together.

First, a particular gnome magic user (Scotty) has been in town for months, originally he was just passing through but he started doing odd jobs for Joel. Identifying items, acquiring potions and scrolls for him it soon became fairly steady income. So Scott decided to stay for a while. Scott took a stroll through the temple just to confirm Tunaster's story and thinks the whole thing is just odd.

Lorin shows up in town in his priestly robes of mystra and goes to the Wyvern Watch Inn and starts inquiring about Tunaster Dranik, word of course gets back to Joel and he arranges a meeting with Tunaster. Rob and Jaren then show up at the inn and start asking about a dwarf friend who has gone missing. Joel remembers the fellow being in town and was last known to be heading north out of town. On top of that Jaren delivers a letter to Joel that basically requires that Joel assist him in finding is dwarven friend.

Troy is a part time employee of the Dragons, when they need a scout to track someone down, and while returning to the city one night he notice the odd lights etc., So he parked it outside the temple for a few days and has watched it. he has noticed a number of people have gone into the temple but not as many have come out. his reports back to the dragons spurred the investigation which led to nothing. but since Joel has requested some help from the Dragons, and since Troy had some interest in the Temple the Dragons agreed to pay a wage to have Troy assist Joel in his investigation. In sharing information Troy recalls seeing the missing Dwarf go into the temple but not come out.

Joel hooks up Lorin with Rob and Jaren since it looks like they have a common area of interest "the Temple". He convinces Scotty to join up as he may need his help "for a fee of course" Troy is assigned to the party by the Dragons, and his good nature wants him to figure out what is going on.
