So... tell me how you liked or disliked the session?

I'll give you my in character references when I get some time to do Greylen's Journal Entry. :)

Player perspective was very favorable. OK, let's say it was amazing.

The ship was a huge bonus to the mini-playing system. While the projections work well to queue up and move quickly between areas, when you have major encounter like this, in a single area, adding the 3-D ship was beautiful.

The minis, of course, were spectacular. Dragons everywhere are always exciting. This despite the fact they were kicking our collective butts.

The combat went fairly smoothly as well. As smoothly as you can the first gaming session of converted characters that you haven't seen since 2E. I need to come up with better ways to have my turns ready, especially when using Time-Stop. Time-Stop was a 'combat-stop' spell for everyone, and I apologize for that. Though we ALL need to brush up on the specifics of our characters again, it seems. ;) I think this is a common thread, though, one that will probably run through our entire campaign. :D

Mike was a nice addition to the team. Keeping track of the mechanics for you, as well as gentle, or not-so-gentle reminders (and digs, yes, he fits right in) from him kept things flowing, despite the glitches for looking up things. Allowed you to focus on more situational flavor.

(Have Mike setup an account and I'll get it approved so he can post as well, if he wants. And forgive me Mike, if I am getting your name wrong. I was coming down with a cold that night and things got a little hazy towards the end. Yeah, we'll go with that... :^o )

I was a bit taken aback by Vrixner's seemingly omnipotent status these days. We've kicked his butt around enough to know he's definitely not all that.

Also, I found it odd that Greylen would never have even heard of the type of magic being utilized. He's a generalist, true, but a LOT of his time (and skill points) are in Knowledge Checks for that very reason. 50's and 60's on his rolls and he know absolutely nothing? Be as it may, I found that a bit frustrating. Why even bother having it?

But honestly, those two items where my only complaints. The dragons were pretty overwhelming, especially supported by Vrixner, but hey, their DRAGONS... 8-[ [-o<

We were lucky. Next round we need to do better or else... :violent3:

Kudos Troy. And Kudos for your team of support specialists (Mike, Sara and everyone else that helped)

Oh and thanks again, Joel for having us over. Your home is gorgeous and the food was wonderful. :occasion5:

Lorin pretty much covered all the things I thought about. It was a pretty brutal hack-and-slash encounter with bad odds - kind of like Inigo Montoya thinking he could take the Man in Black. I feel it was pure chance that we survived despite how high-level our characters are now. Yes, it was fun. But I was honestly surprised we didn't all die considering how the battle was going. That would have been a bummer. We really skimmed the challenge rating on this one!

The set was fantastic! Having a 3D environment to work in that was so well done made the encounter visually astounding. I don't expect such an enormous expenditure of time, resources, and skill to be required for all future gaming sessions, but it sure made for a treat for this one! Appropriate thanks to everyone who helped in prepping for this session!

It was fun to have Mike there. He fit right in and did a great job keeping track of the complexities of the game system and individual details. It makes for a good combination and I think was a very good experiment that turned out better than would have been expected. It does leave me fearful of future encounters with a multiplied level of deviousness (evil chuckles ring in the background).

Having Joel spend his birthday hosting such a gathering for all of us made me especially grateful for the efforts made by everyone to pull this together. That is one of the best barbeque dinners that I can remember and I don't think what Joel put together will be topped for a long time. Thanks so much for everyone who contributed to make it happen.

I really enjoyed myself (other than facing nigh certain death) and look forward to our next outing. Thanks again.

/end feedback.

Dittos on what the mage and paladin have already said.
Enough cannot be said about the time and $ invested in the 3D environment for our benefit. Thanks so much to Troy, Mike, and Sara for the outlay of time and money involved.

And of course to Joel....Thanks so much for giving up your birthday to hang with a bunch of old men playing a game. And equal thanks for your hospitality and willingness to open your beautiful home to the same old men.

As to improvements? Well, it would have helped if I had given Troy the correct character sheet last week; it had a week-old copy of Boric; the current one was on my work computer. Some minor tweaks is all; nothing that would have really impacted the session in any way. I will make sure and finish spending my GP and get my shopping done before the next session.
